Panda Action 2012

Little Yellow Flower (Hong Kong) has sponsored the “Conservation Education Sponsorship Program” of Ocean Park. Volunteer students from Hong Kong Baptist University (BU) and The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) who participated in this education program went to primary and secondary schools in Foping and conducted a series of face to face education activities for the students. The objectives of the program are to sow the seed of conservation awareness among the participant students, as well as a practical training for BU & HKIEd students. Foping province is known as “The Homeland of Panda”. Through these activities, students realized the importance of providing a green environment for the pandas, as well as for the future.

The theme of these education activities focused on the Giant Panda Nature Reserve. Activities conducted including dynamic survey, seminar, play, hymns singing, dancing performance and also the making of “Wishing Tree”. Discussion on the environment conservation issues and urban development was carried out among the students. Earlier on before the event, students from BU and HKIEd have put lots of efforts and creatively came out with some brilliant ideas for the promotion campaign, as well as finding sponsors for gifts and souvenirs.

The series of activities was started since early of the year and the official visit was in April. In total, 10 students from each BU and HKIEd and over 1,100 students in Foping, respectively from 4 primary schools and 2 secondary schools have participated in this program. The response was overwhelming. In the future, more information about conservation can be conveyed to more university students, topics can be extended from the giant panda and more about other issues.

Training for “Her Magic of Life – the me nobody knows”(2)

Social integration is one of a constellation of social terms which aims to foster societies that are stable, safe, just and tolerant. The society shall respect diversity, equality of opportunity and welcome the participation of all people including disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

Having attended and enjoyed the training session for the performance, we realize that children with special learning difficulties is able to show their talents through various means and we should therefore not regard these children as “the other” but a participant in and contributor to the cultural life of the community.

Through the training of this performance, children may experience failures and setbacks but learn to see them as temporary, hence increasing the ability to control their emotion and to manage their reactions to these feelings.

We appreciate everyone who have participated and attending this wonderful musical performance – Her Magic of Life – The Me that Nobody Knows.

Though not all students were elected in the end of the audition but everyone was moved by their courage and spirit, as the HOPE ambassador Charlie Young wrote: May all the SLD children be positive and be strong to face with all the challenges, never give up. They are just like the little yellow flower of the field, no matter how hard the environment is, they grow with a smile.

Art. Charity. Music. A Perfect Combination

I went on a trip which took me five hours of train ride and another 2 hours of car ride but all was worth it when I reached KenTing, a beautiful land by the seaside of South Taiwan. I was filled with an air of excitement and felt as though the vast ocean and blue sky opened their arms to welcome us.

The purpose to KenTing was to join a music festival, known as the “Spring Scream Music Festival” which is held every once a year lasting for 2 days. This year, the event falls on 3rd April 2010 but I arrived a week earlier before the event started to help out as Hope Education Foundation plays a part for charity purposes in Spring Scream Music Festival.

I had to draw on a canvas which was 7 feet in height and 13 feet in width coming up with my own theme and at the same time, guide a group of primary school children to draw on another canvas which is of the same size.

I named my artwork “Dancing Waves” as the idea came from KenTing’s ocean where the white waves curl and laps against the clear blue sea. It also looks as if the waves heard the music from the festival and started dancing. The pencil in my hand came alive too, followed the waves’ shadow and started to draw them on the big beige cloth!

The other piece of canvas was drawn together with the small children and it is known as “Dreams”. The children drew their own version of the Little Yellow Flower and their dreams in the face of the flower. I hope that with this theme, the little children will always remember that the bravery and spirit of the Little Yellow Flower will always accompany them in pursuing their dreams.

When both the drawings were completed, it was hung at the event’s venue by the seaside allowing the drawings to dance together with the crowd and wind according to the music’s tempo. The drawings were also printed onto T-shirts. These T-shirts are sold together with the previous T-shirt I designed for the organizers, caps and also HOPE Education Foundation’s T-shirts. They were all sold for charity purposes and all proceeds are in aid to HOPE Education Foundation.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizer, Spring Scream Music Festival for such an interesting and unforgettable trip cum event!

Qinmo Village project – School Library

Qinmo Village Project is aimed at the long-term sustainable development of a rural Chinese village. Located in Huaji County at the western border of Guangdong Province, the area is one of the poorest.

The project goes beyond mere building construction by integrating educational programs and sustainable concepts. Initiated in 2006 as part of a design workshop to re-think the standard 3 story concrete buildings which are typically donated as schools in rural areas, the designs stressed sustainability and ecological responsibility. In 2009, the full scope of the work involves 7 different projects which are funded individually by different charitable organizations. Little Yellow Flower foundation ( was named as HOPE Education Foundation)

is honored to participate in such a meaningful project and sponsored the establishment of a green concept library, hoping to encourage children to develop reading habits from an early age.

Fund Raising by Manchester United 2009

On 25 July 2009, Manchester United Football Team and Swiss watchmaker Hublot have jointly attended an event at Hangzhou in China to raise fund for the Foundation.
